Siobhan's Kindergarten promotion

Siobhan with her class. She got an award for writing.Below is a picture of Siobahn with her 8th grade buddy Tori. The buddies sit with them in church and help them learn how to behave. She gave Siobhan gifts throughout the year and helps promote a positive influence. She screamed and yelled when they called Siobhan's name at promotion.

for you gals only

Alright, I am a big girl. I am a big girl with big, um, you know. So anyway, Saturday I find myself with no bra. Don't ask! I throw on a sweatshirt (it is about 85 degrees out) and go to the mall. Usually I can find bra's at Macy's (previously Robinson's May) and sometimes Mervyn's (I don't like that store) for about $40 each. But whatever, what are you going to do? Oh, and there are no cute matching panties to go with that either. You would think with all the people getting breast enlargements, there would be more cute larger bras out there.

I decided to go to Lane Bryant because they were having a sale on clothes. They always cost too much but we had LOTS of time to kill. As soon as I walk in they lady says "Our bras are buy two get two free". Thanks I say. They NEVER have big one's. They might have a DD and that is NOT going to do it, I decided to check it out because after all it IS what I am there for and frankly going without is not for me.

First thing I see is wire free. Oh, yeah, like that is going to do it. I need steel to hold these puppies in place. I look through and they have big one's. They have one's even BIGGER than I need. WOW! So I look at the price, hmm, not too bad. Worth trying out at buy one get one free. I pick out two white, black, and PINK (I have NEVER had a pink bra, not usually worth the pricetag). I paid about $46 dollars for FOUR bras. Can't believe it.

Yeah, but are they going to work. I find a bathroom and put it on. Which also means I can take of the sweatshirt ( I KNOW I look like an idiot). They are SO comfortable. No wire hurting my ribs, not too tight. Almost like a sports bra, BUT they are where they are supposed to be. Actually it looks good. Totatlly impressed.

I am please at the price (even if they weren't on sale, $24 each) and the comfort and the job they do. Ahhh, I can finally have some support AND comfort. Thank you Lane Bryant bras.

a few things here and there

We had a great day yesterday. Started off with Siobhan's first soccer game. It went well. She actually tried, well.. sort of. She ran a lot! We came home and cooked up some hot dogs and opened Diego's birthday presents and had cake. We attempted to have the little one's take a nap. They didn't, but I sure did! Then we were off to the Galaxy game.

Our game mates, Tammy and Phil brought some cupcakes and a gift for Diego. So sweet! Just before the game ended a fan ran out onto the field and hugged David Beckham. Oh man! (how wonderful THAT must have been), If you ask me, David looked like he could care less. Of course he did have his "body guard" run out. That guy wears a suit. Yeah, he fits in!

Got home and decided we were hungry so out to Carl's.

Diego enjoyed his presents. His Nina called him and left him a message. He was so excited. His Nino called him today. He must have talked for 15 minutes. I said "What did he say?" Diego- "I don't know".

Still fighting this thing. Dr. called and said I have Pneumonia. I am on different medicine now. Here is to hoping they actually work!

A birthday party for a Princess

Siobban was invited to a birthday party for one of her friends. It was held at Olivia's Doll House . It was amazing. You can find more photos at my Flikr page. I would recommend it for any little girl's birthday party!

If you need a reminder:

Of what matters, let me tell you. Today I found out that my friend’s four-year-old son died. He had leukemia. They found out about a year ago. He was doing better. Now, he is not.

Four years old. Four! One. Two. Three. Four. FOUR!

How, as a parent, do you survive that? How do you go on living? How do you manage to make it through each day? Why? Why do it?

When my father died, I thought I would never be happy again. My father lived over sixty years. He was my father. Although he died young, I knew, one day my father would die. A child. Your child. It is not supposed to happen. A parent is not supposed to witness the death of their child.

How do you face each day? Each minute? Think of your children. NEVER seeing them again. Never holding them. Wiping away a tear. Seeing a smile. Hearing laughter.

What matters? Family. Love. Showing that love each and every day. Letting the love guide who you are and what you do.

My heart aches for her. My tears flow for her. My mind can not comprehend the pain she is and is going to continue to endure. I wish there were something, anything I could do for her. Something that would, even for a second, make her pain less somehow. There is nothing. I can do nothing. It has happened, there is nothing left to do.

Rambling, I know. I don’t care. Somehow maybe, just maybe I will say something that makes sense. Something. Anything.

God bless her, her husband and her older son. The pain they are all going through, it just shouldn’t happen.

Take your children and hold them tight. Who cares about the spilled juice on the floor? The messy room? The bad grades? Because all those things will work out. They just don’t matter. Love and family matter! Remember that above all.

9:39pm

Back from Urgent Care. Bradley decided to slice his leg instead of the cardboard with the box cutter. Good move!

6:47pm

K is asleep on the couch. Eric is dozing watching tv. Siobhan and Diego are outside playing. Bradley is doing homework and I am alterating between making dinner and laying on the bed reading.

what is going on with you?

Well I am ending my 4 week sickness. Finally went to the Dr. She said I do have a viral thing but it was also my asthma. I honestly had no idea. I felt asthma fine. She put me on prenisone (steriod) and I feel better. The cough is almost gone (compared to what it was) and although I am still having some trouble breathing, I can actually walk across the room with no problem.

Bradley has it now. The Dr. told him to take some of my cough medicine. Well, he must have reacted to the codine and broke out in hives.

Our water heater broke. So that really stinks! The kids cleaned up all the wet stuff on the floor. Luckily Cucui's 40 pound bag of dog food was on something and didn't get wet. What a waste of a new bag that would have been.

Today my cousin and I are taking Siobhan and Diego to Siobhan's school fiesta. They have rides and booths. Bradley is going to work at the dime toss booth. Service hours!

It is going to be hot today. We already have the air on. It is already 89 at 10:40am. Krystal is making something tasty for dinner. Yummy!

California lifts gay marriage ban

I, for one, am pleased by this news. I believe marriage should be about love. People who love one another should be able to celebrate that love and share their lives together with all the benefits of a husband and wife. I think it is about time.

There are many people who marry for less than love. Who are you or me to say who shouldn't marry someone else. Rights and respect, that is all it is about.

When I was in high school I found out my best friend was gay. He was afraid for so long to tell me. Me! When he did, "so what". Who cares. That didn't change him, my thoughts of him or our friendship. He shouldn't have to live his life in fear of what shallow minded people think.

As an adult one of my VERY good friends is gay. I have never once wondered if she "wants" me. We are friends. I never wondered if my male friends now want me either. Friendship. It is honest and faithful.

I am so happy. I think gay people face enough problems in people who are so worried about what "gays" are doing. Worry about yourself. Your family. Your marriage. Leave ceremonies who want nothing more than to "shout to the world that I love you and want to be with you forever" alone.

I know there are people reading this thinking I am a freak. The bible. It is wrong. Whatever. They are getting married in the church. It is a civil ceremony. God has nothing to do with it. God has nothing to do with any civil ceremonies. Let people, who are causing you NO harm, be. Be happy. Be together. Be with rights!

God loves us ALL! Quit judging others!

Diego wants that candy

What is going on?

I made it to work yesterday, sort of. My boss took one look at me and said go home. I told her I couldn't but I would be going home after my meeting. I felt so drained. I am exhusted. This coughing and sickness is making me so tired. Just tired.

Watched Siobhan practice soccer last night. I was not thinking like sick Di, but regular Di, as in "who needs a sweatshirt, I won't be cold". OH yeah right! Freezing. I never get cold. I was freezing. Came home, jumped in the shower to warm up. Under the bed with an extra blanket, freezing. I seriously think I warmed up about 11pm. I slept great from 8-11, just some wheezing with a slight cough.

I am freezing again. My neck and head, ouch! Coughing a bit, but if it stops, I will be grateful. Still waking me up though.

I am just so tired. I am pretty sure it is the flu. Walking from the car to S's soccer practice about did me in. Lungs ache, body aches, tired.

Work, not today. I need to get better.

Tuesday, May 06, 2008

Enough is enough

Okay, I think I am starting to get seriously mad about this whole being sick thing. This has gone on long enough. Well over two weeks. Frankly it is going to stop. There are litle bubbles of time where I feel okay, then complete exhustion. Coughing, sneezing, spitting, it is NOT nice people. This is it. I have allowed it to consume me, I am done. I gotta go lay down...

The new moon is over...

Everyone keeps telling me I need to go to the doctor. I know what I have is viral and they won't give me anything. I looked it up, ha ha Anyway look at what my horoscope says. Too funny.

Listen to your internal voice today -- the whispers in the back of your head are speaking the truth. No matter what other people say, don't let them push you into doing anything that just doesn't feel right. Whether it's something as minor as going out to lunch or as major as signing a legal document, you need to be the one driving yourself to do it. Make sure you're comfortable with everything you get involved with. Don't respond to pressure, no matter how strong it is.

Blogging Pregnant

A lot of blogging mommies are having more. I am so glad to say I am not one of those. I love reading about their pregnancies, how they feel, what they are going through. But the idea of sleeplessness nights and totting another baby around, don't miss it. Now, in my defense I have four children. Enjoyed that bliss four times and four times is enough. One thing I will miss, delivering a baby. Having my husband by my side as we wait to see the beautiful baby God has blessed us with. That I will miss. I am old. I am older because I have four children. Anyone who has children knows of what I speak.

Krystal-18
Bradley 17
Siobhan-6
Diego-3 (Four in June!)

In reality it is a lot to deal with. Luckily my husband and I are a team. If anything I am the assistant coach to him. But we handle it. Think about all the different types of issues. If we had four children all around the same age, I actually think it would be easier. We have good children! Really good children. We are strict. We love them. We will give them anything we can as long as they remain good children. They are all very educated in the teachings of the Catholic church and not only know but live the difference between right and wrong. But, they are still children.

Why can't K and B decide what is half of the back yard for picking up fruit? Why D hits S because she told him to get off her bed? Why S seems to whine endlessly lately?

Ahh, but over all, we are blessed with four children who for the most part get along wonderfully. They older one's help the little one's. They like to show them off too.

My husband likes to say he would like one more but I don't think he could handle any more sleepless nights either. A cute baby would be wonderful but I also don't want to push my luck. I have four very healthy children. At some point, you start pushing those odds.

On the other hand, one or two children would never do. I want a big family. I was the last of four children. I had some wonderful (and some not so wonderful) experiences because of that.

To all those mommies out there with bumps, congrats. God bless you and love and cherish your little one. They truly are a gift from God!

No dening it, I am sick

It started with a wicked sore throat. Just when I thought I would have strep throat, it went away. Replaced by a bad cough. I croup kind of cough. Sure I had bronchitias, the cough still there developed into sneezing, cloudy head and body aching. Yesterday I rested most of the day. I still feel like crap. I can't take any time off work because I have staff out. Siobhan starts soccer tomorrow. 5PM, still not sure how I am going to do that. They don't realize parents work or what? We got her cleats, shin guards and ball yesterday. She picked a purple ball with big butterflies on it. It doesn't get any more girly than that. Even an all pink ball would have been less girly. It is cute though. I am really looking forward to watching her play. I hope she enjoys it.

blah

I was going to write about how you think you can joke with people but not always. Sometimes they hear seriousness where you are kidding. But I decided not to waste any time on it.

I would rather ask for a few prayers for some friends of mine who have loved one's who have some health issues going on. Please say a few prayers for those who are doing all they can to stay healthy.

Hey there, Hi there, Ho there

I thought I would take a few minutes and talk about how I miss my friend Vangie. I met Vangie about 9 years ago. it took me a little while to get to really know her, but once I did, true friendship. She stayed at our house and watched our dogs while Eric and I took the kids to Europe for three and a half weeks.

She dated a friend of mine and I thought, how perfect is this?! It didn't work out but I am still friends with both of them.

She moved away to be near her son (who couldn't admire that!). She is one of those people that if you went a year without talking, the minute you do, it is like you talked last week.

She is someone you can truly be yourself with. No judgement whatsoever. Really!

Here are a few things about my friend Vangie.
She ALWAYS looks great in photos!
She went to culinary school (but that isn't what she does now) and I am STILL waiting for my 8 course meal!
She has a Podcast! I mean, I am the computer person with everyone I know and she has a podcast. The first time I heard her say "Are you calling me fat" on it, I cried I missed her so much!
Vangie will give you everything she owns and help you get more.
She is a great mom.
She ALWAYS makes me laugh!

She will be welcome in our home, anyday, anytime, for whatever reason!

I miss you Vangie! Mean it!

where have you been?

I think I have been twittering so much I forgot about my blog. I can only do so much people!

We decided to take Siobhan out of dance. She doesn't feel comfortable where she is at and there is a performance coming up. She is going to start soccer in a couple weeks AND she is in gymnastics. I think it will be okay.

Today Krystal is going with her friend to LA. They are going to take the train, spend the day, eat and shop and come home tonight. We have a galaxy game. They better win!

I feel a little sickness coming on. Everyone at work is sick. My mind shall keep the body healthy!

Now I have SEEN it all

As you may know, I feel that people are on their mobile phones WAY too much. Today, I saw something I never thought I would see.

A blind lady walking down the street on the cell phone. WHAT? I would THINK she would need her additional senses when walking down the street instead of chit chatting on the phone.

Okay, maybe I am overreacting, but still...I don't know. What do you think?

My trip to Vegas with friends

Last weekend, we met at my house and left about 9:45am. Out on the road. The road that seemingly never ends. We stopped at Del Taco for breakfast when we all started feeling the hunger. I was amazing Julie could drive and eat a big ass breakfast burrito. (I am in awe still). Natalie was chatting in the back about how she needed to call her friend who lives in Vegas when we reach state line. "You better call him now", I told her.

We found the hotel quickly. It was nice. There was bit of a line to check in. The second we walked in I realized I had TOTALLY forgotten what it was like to be where people are allowed to smoke inside. It has been ten years since people where allowed to smoke inside here. Ick!

We upgraded our room for a mere $10 more. It was nice! Big! We relaxed, unpacked and watched as Julie pulled out her home bar. This girl knows how to travel!

We went out and enjoyed the day. We got some drinks, spent a few dollars and got something to eat. In the Paris Hotel I was amazed at how they made the ceiling look like sky. Not cheesy but really look like sky. Then we headed back to our hotel to relax and prepare for the night!

Beth (the birthday girl) and her friend Annie met us at the room about 7. We enjoyed some good drinks (via Julie!). We walked over to the restaurant, Diablo’s Cantina. Perfect choice! The music was loud and great. Our booth was in the perfect location and the drinks and food were great. We stayed there a couple of hours and then headed out to the strip. We walked around, went here and there. We ended up at this place that had Mini Britney . I won't comment on that, I have included the link for you to judge for yourself.

Tired and with hurting feet we headed back to the room. Beth and Annie said goodbye and I was in my pj's when Julie said "I am heading downstairs for something to eat, what do you want?". It was 1:30 AM. I don't know why I was so surprised. Eric and I lose all track of time when we are on vacation too.

The next morning we woke and headed over to Beth's house. She lives here in OC but bought a house there. She goes whenever she can. It was really cute. I wished we could have stayed longer. It was nice to just hang out. We went out to eat and headed home.

I got car sick on the way home. It was really windy. I asked Julie if I could drive and you probably couldn't shut me up after I started to feel better. It was great. It was fun to get away with the girls. I said we should do it again sometime just because. I hope we do.

My vacation...so far

Friday I enjoyed a wonderful lunch with my two blogger friends. Our kids had a great time playing.
Saturday we watched the LA Galaxy practice at The Home Depot Center. You might think Bechham is my favorite player, but no, it is Mike Randolph
Then we went to lunch with our cousins. Siobhan went to Sandee's house until Jasso movie night, "The Return of the Invisible Man".
Sunday for Easter we hung out here, as usual. The kids found Easter baskets and hunted for eggs. We had a small dinner and relaxed at home. It was nice. No fuss. I actually LET Krystal drive. I figured if there was one day God would be really keeping an eye out... ha ha. She did okay!
Monday the kids and I started cleaning their room. It is hard having two little one's with a lot of stuff in one room. Eric came home and couldn't believe how messy the house was. Every-time I walked in their room I felt overwhelmed so they had to bring the stuff to me (still working on that project!)Bradley did some sanding on the kitchen cabinet doors. Siobhan had gymnastics, then we all went out to dinner.
Tuesday Eric worked half day. We picked up lunch and took the kids to Irvine park. We ate lunch
and Diego rode a pony. and we rode the train. Last night Bradley and I took the little one's to story time over at the new library. I might try and take Siobhan to the story time for older kids. She is really enjoying reading. I can't believe how much she can read by herself already.
Today? Well, I don't know yet. I have also enjoyed myself playing Lost in Blue 3 on the DS as well as Diner Dash 1, 2 and Flo on the Go on my mac. Ahhh, vacation!

I have put a lot of pictures up on Flickr. I usually put them all here but we have been taking photos like crazy. Want to check them out? Click here for Flickr!

A date?

I have a date with my husband tonight! I am so excited. We are going out. Probably dinner and a movie. I know that might not sound like much but we are both looking forward to it. We always do everything as a family, so this is exciting. Usually we go out together once in August (our anniversary), but this is just because. I can't wait. I am really excited!

Diego was playing in his room and I guess he got a little tired and fell asleep. He does look a bit comfortable though doesn't he?

Monday, March 17, 2008

How do you spell that?

My husband has wanted one of these dogs for a few years now. I don't know why he won't admit they are ugly. Yes, I know they grow on you. Of course I would love it and probably actually think it is cute. They are called Xoloitzcuintli (Mexican hairless) or Xolo for short.

The problem is they are pretty rare so it isn't easy finding a breeder. Heck, we had a hard time finding a good AKC breeder for Cucui. I e-mailed one place but haven't heard back yet. They make GREAT family dogs. (Great but ugly pets) ha ha Actually I do kinda think they are cute. Amazing I know!

Saturday, March 15, 2008

Yesterday I dropped Siobhan off at school and went to work. At lunchtime I left to pick Siobhan up from school and drop her off at home (half day), and went back to work. I got off work, and went home and took Siobhan to sign up for soccer. When I got home I took K to find some track clothes. Finally, I got home for good. Today Eric got up early to take K to school so she could catch her school van to go down to San Diego for a track meet. I took Siobhan to dance this morning and came home and Eric and I took the little one's (B was at a track meet also) to the bookstore to get some books and out for lunch. We all came home and took a nap.

My friend Cheryl always jokes about how much I drive around. I don't think this is anything. When Bradley was in soccer too, that was driving around. We go to soccer in Orange, not far, but not right around the corner either. The thing is, I don't mind driving. When we go to Mexico, I drive. Basically whenever we go anywhere, I drive. We take my car, I drive. I have motion sickness bad, so I prefer to be in the drivers seat, literally.

Tonight is the Invisible Man for Jasso Movie Night. The kids are looking forward to it. It starts at 9 so the kids had to get their naps in (us too!). Hopefully K will be back soon and Eric can go get some snacks for tonight. We always have popcorn too. I think it might be a good night for a fire too, if we have a log.

Tomorrow, the plans are, NOTHING! I LOVE Sundays. I get up whenever, have some coffee. Do laundry (which I enjoy EXCEPT for putting them away) and I will go to the market and make something yummy for dinner. I so enjoy making dinner on Sundays. No rush! It can be something that takes hours and I find it fun. Only on Sundays!

Pasta

Last night Eric and I watched Top Chief for the first time. I have decided that I am going to attempt to make homemade pasta. I mean, if it isn't that hard, why not. We eat lots of pasta and I have read it taste SO much better if you make it yourself. I will be sure to post pictures when I actually try it. I am looking forward to it!

(Eric, if it doesn't taste good, we can always order pizza!)

Vegas

My friends Julie, Natalie and I are going to Vegas for our friend Beth's birthday in April. I haven't been on a girls trip in I don't know how long. Fun! I am not a big fan of Vegas, but as Julie says, anywhere you can walk around outside and get cheap drinks is a place to be. ha ha We are sharing a room and sharing the driving. I am really looking forward to it. We will head out early Saturday morning and enjoy ourselves and go out at night with Beth. We will come home Sunday. I plan to take LOTS of pictures. In this case what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas won't apply, I will have PHOTOS!

Sunday, March 09, 2008

Oh yeah

Alright, yesterday I did the unthinkable. I pre-ordered Lost in Blue 3. The store said they should have it March 19th. 10 days! oh yeah. He told me "We will call you the day before to remind you". "Oh, no need I told him!" Please! There is NO way I would forget!

To tide me over I bought a couple of used games to tide me over. They were cheap! I got Trace Memory, which seems okay, and Jewel Match, which I love and kick ass at! My friends at work and I trade games so when I am done, they use it and I borrow somethig of theirs. Of course I won't need to because I will have Lost in Blue 3.

Yesterday Eric told the kids that the DS was like crack to mommy. He said "At least it is cheaper!". No kidding.

My next blog- Sergio from Sprint!

Still not at school

Siobhan missed a full week of school. This is the first time she has missed any school. She can't seem to kick this bug. Fever, then she is fine, then a fever again. grrr. I thought she was fine but now she has another low grade fever.

She says she wants to try soccer. Eric is afraid she is going to quit dance and then find out she hates soccer. Since she is a totally girly girl, he doesn't think she will like the running around and getting sweaty. She wants to try. She even told me she doesn't care if the uniform isn't pink! ha ha

Next year Diego should be able to play. He is going to tear up the field, it is already obvious!

We found out that Nan isn't going to be able to visit us like we thought. We are so sad. It has been almost four years. We miss her so much! We miss you all the time Nan! We could NEVER forget you!

Eric is going to meet a friend from high school tomorrow. That is pretty cool.

Ceasar & Chuy

This my new favorite show. Funny. Classic. Mystery Science Theater 2000 meets music videos. Check it out if you have LATV in your area. NOT for children, but then again, neither is MTV. Click on the link (post title). If you watch it, let me know what you think!

Flickr!

Ok, I admit, I often refresh flickr over and over. I comment on people's pictures. It is something I like to do. Today is a first. I refreshed about 4 times and there were NO NEW PICTURES. Finally it refreshed with only one new photo. Unbelievable. I can't believe it. Either something is wrong and Flickr is slow or people out there have stopped. It can't be. I honestly refresh it more often then anything else I do. It is the voyeur in me!

I don't feel like "talking" so your getting photos

Tuesday, March 04, 2008

Hey, I added a new link under my "Blogs worth checking out". Hawaiian Tropics, go click on it!

So guess I will be home today

Siobhan has a fever. She felt hot when I picked her up from daycare yesterday. I thought it would just "go away" like it has in the past. But, if you note the time of this post, you will see we were not so lucky. Eric was planning on coming home early but since I am the one who is up now (and has been for about an hour), there is no way I will be able to function tomorrow (today!) at work.

She has a bit of a cough too. I hope Diego doesn't get it. I am going to send him to Eric's mom just to keep him away. Plus she LOVES watching him. We need more medicine. I bought the melt-aways but Siobhan said she would rather have liquid. Ick! What a freaky kid! We need batteries for the remote too. I can't believe I actually figured out how to turn the tv on. I was lucky that the Dish Network and the surround sound were already on, otherwise I would have been lost.

I registered Bradley for his SAT's. I made K's DMV appointment. We finally got her birth certificate. I ordered it December 21st. How is that for a timeline! It came yesterday! (still feels like today). Siobhan is signed up for gymnastics and this weekend we can sign her up for soccer. I can't wait until Diego is old enough. He LOVES soccer. He is going to be good!

I better get back to the Princess. She has been up three times since I have been writing this. Good morning people!

Yesterday was my dad's birthday. I forgot. Of course I did. I always forgot my dad's birthday. I don't know why. I was always calling the next day,"Oh I forgot your birthday". Why should now be any different?! Wish I could call him though.

Last week our little Xochitl died in my arms. We got a call about 6:15am, a guy said he found my dog. I left right away. When I got there he had her in his sweatshirt on his seat. Said he found her by the side of the road. She was still alive, but barely. She died about 45 minutes later at home with all of us around her. I don't think she was in pain. We are certain someone took her because she was so far away and Cucui was still here. We are guessing she was hit by a car although she wasn't bleeding or anything. I can't believe she is gone. She was such a GREAT dog! We will really miss her!

We took Siobhan and Diego to LA for the International Children's Film Festival. It was a lot of fun. As you can see, they had fun drinking at the bar. We enjoyed a film starring Mr. Winkle. I knew that dog was real and still sat through the whole thing thinking "There is no way that dog is real". They gave us a Mr. Winkle calendar on our way out too. I put mine up at work!
