lunch?

How come when it is time for your long break at work, it is always called a lunch? If you go in to work at 5am and you "lunch" is at 8 or 9, it is called lunch. If you work late and you have your "lunch" at 1am, it is called lunch. Why is that?

Because it is considered in the middle of the shift. I imagine that is what the cavemen called it
