Kids say the funniest things

Okay, picture this: A bird bath in the distance. A bird perched on the side and something next to the bird.

Me "Diego, see the bird bath? Next to to the bird. Is that a toy?"

Diego "No, it's real"

ha ha, he thought I meant the bird. I couldn't stop laughing to tell him to get the toy off the bird bath. ha ha classic

Christmas Eve Day

I think this is the first day before Christmas that I have only a single gift to buy. We were VERY frugal this year. We always say we won't buy a lot but this year we actually did light shopping.

I still am unsure of what is for dinner tomorrow. I hate the stress of it. Eric doesn't care what we have which makes it worse because it leaves so much to choose from. I wanted something I could make today. Chili he thought. I did all my shopping at Vons instead of Albertsons (I like the meat at Vons better) and I couldn't find the kindey beans so that means I still have to go to the market.

Kids are excited about Santa. Oh great, we haven't anything to make cookies either. I think I might go cry now...

Newport Beach

We went to go get corn dogs at the beach one night since we had to take K's scooter in. It was freaking cold so they had to eat in the car. Still, who doesn't love a good corn dog?!

Yummy Dinner

We have been to this restaurant, donerG two times now. They serve Turkish and Mediterranean food. The Doner chicken plate comes with chicken, rice (that is SO yummy), pita and two types of salad. One salad is a cucumber with tomatoes marinated (I think), the other is lettuce with red cabbage (again I think, Eric thinks it might be beets) marinated. Both are very, very good.

The one by us is located on Ball and State College, close to 7-11. They have a buffet on Thursday nights. I HIGHLY recommend trying it out.

Elvis Christmas

The Elvis Christmas album was big at our house. I hear it now and I swear I can still hear my Dad singing. Amazing. My heart swells with love and pain at the same time. Singing was big in our car! Everyone sang. I loved to just drive and sing. Still do. I really miss hearing my dad sing.

So I failed

the blogging once a day in November. I plan to keep up the blogging as long as possible. I still want to do one of those blog books Andrea told me about.

Today is Saturday. I keep thinking it is Sunday. I was off work this whole week. Weird how you start to think, what job? I don't have to go anywhere or do anything but what I want too. Yeah, and then you think, this is it? My kids are all in school, what would I do all day? You can only watch so much MONK and Ghost Whisperer. hee hee

I was home when Krystal and Bradley were real little until I went back to school. I didn't work so I was still home with them most of the time. That was nice but all my friends worked. I didn't have any money so I couldn't really do anything and there weren't as many activities as there are now. (That was a LONG time ago)

Ah, but there is today and tomorrow. I hope to enjoy them. At least there are many days off in December and I will be off a week again in January. My kids have THREE weeks off for Christmas. Is this the norm now? I decided to wait until January to give everyone else the time off those two weeks (we are close Thursday and Friday of each week anyway).

Krystal will finish up with this semester in two weeks. She will be home-working or at work-working (hopefully).

Enjoy your Saturday.

It's official

Diego can now tie his shoes. WOO HOO! He has been really lazy about it as have we. I sat down with him the other day and showed him in steps. He was doing fine but not really getting it and then wal-la, he did it! YEAH

Giving Thanks

There is always much to want, wish and hope for. But there is always much to give thanks for as well. I have four healthy children. I have a husband who loves me beyond belief and who, after 16 years, am still very much in love with. We have our own home. We have jobs that we love (which I am just about done with that student loan!). We have loads of friends by our side. We still have our Mom's. Our Dad's are both in heaven, probably enjoying a drink together. Our Grandparent's are gone as well, but they all lived loved and full lives.

We have love and happiness. We know the gift of travel. Of learning of other cultures and seeing the beauty of old buildings. We have the desire to travel more. Our love of learning hasn't ended.

I could list things all day. There is so much to be thankful for, but I am most thankful this year, in particular, for forgiveness.

Stealing from Julie

Because that is what friends do. Birth stories. I will cut mine short, hopefully.

Krystal-THREE weeks after her due date on August (yes AUGUST) 7th, I went in to be induced. After two whole hours of labor she was born at just after midnight on the 8th.

Bradley-a week after his due date I was induced on November 15th. A two day thing. They put something on your cervix and see what happens. I went back in because something was going on. Stayed all night, nothing. Started the inducing in the morning, at 2:30 they said they might send me home. Nurse came in at 3:30 to check me, told her my water broke (nothing had happened up till then), she checked me, slammed the call button and said "tell the doctor to get here NOW she is at 10". He was at another hosiptal a few miles away. I remember them moving me when he walked in, and I said "You better hurry up" My mom said he didn't have time to scrub or anything. Born 45 minutes later.

Siobhan- I thought I was leaking, so I went in, they said they would go ahead and induce me since it was my due date and I was there ( I think something else was going on). Her labor was the worst. I think it was only 4-5 hours but they broke my water pretty early on. There she was!

Diego-I was having monitoring for low fluid. I was taking Siobhan with me. They called me. I felt it was like in Toy Story "Farewell my friends, I go off to a better place". I was the chosen one. I went downstairs to get induced. It was my due date. I called Eric and Siobhan watched cartoons until he got there. They couldn't start the inducing for two hours, I needed meds first, so Eric and I watched a movie. They started finally and it was fine. I remember joking between contractions. Taking phone calls. Frankly I was quite funny, and there he was.

Summary-two kids late and two born ON the due date ( I throw that 5% statistic way off)
four kids and four times to be induced.
No drugs

Getting prenant, pregnancy and having the baby is easy for me. I guess I just don't go into labor on my own. We could have had two more but I am so glad we didn't. Those two adorable, cute, loving little kids will be teenagers one day in the not to far distance. Teenagers=heartache and headache

True Love

My husband and I have been together for 16 years. We have been married for 9. There have been ups and downs and some bad patches, but overall, I truly think we are blessed. Most of the time I feel as though I have just fallen in love with him. I look at him and think "I love him so much". I want to kiss and hold him as if we just met, but only better because there is so much love and history there.

I know how things can be and I am not going to say we have never been there. A lot of things happen in 16 years. I grew very distant when my Dad passed away. Although I don't think you ever fully recover, I have learned. I am in love with my husband. There are so many things to love about him. He doesn't think so which just makes it easier to love him.

I just consider myself lucky and blessed. Very blessed.

Word Verification

My friends and I have been doing this for a while now. Does your blog have word verification? Does mine? When you write a comment on someone's blog, make your comment, then write the word verification word (the word "word" used loosely) and then write a sentence using it.

It's fun and sometimes quite difficult.

nice night

Tonight was a good night. While dinner was cooking Diego got his shower. (He always seems to need to shower). Siobhan completed her homework. We ate dinner. I put in a load of laundry and Daddy took a quick nap. Diego fell asleep on the couch. Siobhan unwrapped some little ceramic dolls from her Nana. When Eric woke up Siobhan read us a story "Mr Sugar Comes to Town". How perfect is that? All the while, Diego sleeps on the couch.

All in all a really great, peaceful and relaxing night.

Monday Monday

Today started out pretty crappy, got worse but then tapered off. Eric made a nice pasta dinner and I got to watch a MONK. I am going to have clean sheets in about 5 minutes and nothing can go really bad when you have clean sheets.

I made Diego clean off the toothpaste on the bathroom door. How the heck it got there, I have no idea but I am quite sure it was him! brat! Good thing he is SO cute.

Looking forward to next week. The kids and I are off the whole week. I am sure I will be going out of my mind come Thanksgiving but it will be nice to sleep in and relax. Not sure what we will do but hang out around the house.. Any ideas? We might take Diego to Disneyland. Poor baby still hasn't gone. We are neglectful parents. 5 minute drive makes it easy to put off. I just know he isn't going to want to ride anything!

That's the night that the lights went out in Carson

Friday night was the LA Galaxy game. Started at 8pm. We arrived about 6:45 since you never know how traffic is going to be and the last game we parked far away. We did our pre-game stuff. Got our free hot dogs and soda's and sat down to watch our guy's practice.

We got our seats near where we usually sit so we got to talk to Tammy and Phil.

About 15 minutes into the game, the lights went out. All the field lights. They were out for about 20 minutes. It was actually kinda cool. They came back on and they played. There was no score at the half. They started playing again and about another 15 minutes into the second half, darkness. Again. For another 20 minutes. They game went into overtime. We scored in the first 15 minutes overtime and then again in the second 15 minute overtime. We won! Hot diggy dog. We thought about going to Seattle for the final game but tickets are pretty expensive.

Last night we watched to see who the Galaxy is going to play. Real Salt Lake won in a shoot out. They played 90 minutes, two over time 15 minutes and usually there are 5 kicks on each side but last night, I believe it went to 7.

Next week La Galaxy will win. If we can't be there we hope to be at a watch party somewhere. Unless we have one here, hmmm.

My trip for produce

There is a store called Superior. I wish it were closer but I drive to Santa Ana for it. It is worth it.
Check out the deals I got!

2.4 lbs onions =.60
loose carrots 3.28lbs=1.09
10lbs potatoes=1.79
hot house tomatoes 1.97lbs= .99
navel oranges 5.17lbs= 2.59
bananas 5.29ils=3.65
AND
red delicious apples 13.10lbs=2.62

Yes 13.10 POUNDS of apples. I almost thought "is this too much?" but we go through fruit like crazy.

I love that store for produce. Everything else, eh. But what deals they have! It is worth it to drive the 6 miles or so. (There are THREE in Santa Ana, time to move out into another city guys!) Plus it is bag your own which the little one's love and since all I get is produce it makes it pretty easy.

mas about me

I like black licorice, not red
I love to read and I read very quickly but I do not know how to spell
I enjoy going to the movies but think it is so over priced that I don't do it often
I wish I could hire a cook (dinner would be ready when I get home)
I would love to have my house completely decorated for Christmas but never actually manage to get it done
I think the Thanksgiving meal is over rated. How much food does any one person need in one sitting?
I would really like to have a convertible (well who wouldn't?)
My friend Melissa has been my friend for 38 years. How has she hung in there?
My husband and I have been together for 16 years. Still in love!
I look forward to seeing my children every night but don't mind going to work in the morning.
I have worked at my job for almost 11 years and I still love it.
I have an apple most nights at bedtime
My friends think we have too much computer "stuff"
I don't see my mom or brothers as much as I would like
I thought I would be a better Aunt

re-posting my very first post

This was my very first post. Written on Friday August 6, 2004. FIVE years ago. Thought it wouldn't hurt to re-post. Diego was about 2 months old and I was still on my four month "vacation" from work.

whaaa

Sometimes I feel as if I am going to go out of my head being at home with four kids. I count the hours until my husband is home, an adult, someone to help spread the madness. How can they be so dang cute and so annoying all at the same time? So, as I think, wow I need to run away, I think a I only have 55 days until I go back to work. Yikes! I love my job, don't get me wrong, I love my kids too. But too much of a good thing.....
I try and remember that I probably (although I don't see how) get on their nerves as well. If we decide to go to the park, everyone is excited. If we go to the dog beach, woo hoo. If we go shopping, all right! But somewhere between the going and the being there, the outing loses some of its appeal and someone is complaining. So, easy enough to fix, hey you don't like it stay home and do chores. Ha! I showed them.

It's a great big beautiful wonderful incredible...

You have to LOVE the internet. About 20 years ago Mad Magazine put square records in the magazines. There was one song that stuck with me all these years. I sing it often. It has eight different endings to the song. I found someone who had blogged them all. Check it out! Click on the title to take you to the website.

barium enema x-ray

Although I have yet to have the joy of having one, I was lucky enough to witness Siobhan having one. She has had problems with constipation for well over 2 years. She has been on one adult dose of miralax per day every day and still she has problems.

The Pediatric GI doctor recommended a barium enema x-ray to see what was going. Of course, I checked online right away to see what we were in for. What the heck?

I didn't tell her until that morning what was actually going to happen. Didn't want her to dwell on it too long (and believe me, she would have). The x-ray tech we had was very friendly, helpful and great with Siobhan. She explained everything to her so she would understand. The doctor came in and inserted a tube into her bum. From there we were able to watch on the screen her colon fill with barium. She was GREAT! They filled her up with more, more, and more. They got another bag (probably twice the size of an IV bag) and continued. Once that one was almost all the way in, she was in tears. She was moving side, front, side, back, side, etc. They were in the other room looking at something and Siobhan had so many tears coming out of her eyes. Poor baby. I called the tech in and said, she is in pain now. They moved the bag to the floor where the barium should have come out of her body and back into the bag. That didn't happen. They untaped her bum and removed the tube and I carried her to the restroom. Once she emptied most of it, another x-ray.

She did so well. I was so glad Daddy waited in the lobby. It was breaking my heart and I know it would have killed him. I told her "You did SO well." She said "No, I cried". Oh my gosh, I tried telling her how that didn't matter because she did what needed to be done. Anyone would have cried.

We took her out for a really big breakfast because she hadn't been able to eat and she was fine after that. Daddy had to take her for a follow up x-ray the next day. She was okay since it was a regular one! The tech told us to come while she was working and she would take care of Siobhan.

We haven't heard from the doctor yet. I don't know how we will proceed from here. I will let you know when we find out!

Piece of sh*t

Picked my car up, fixed finally. yeah. Fixed. Finally that dang Check engine light was out. Oh, until this morning. WTH? Taking it in tomorrow. Hoping it is free to fix it. Seriously rethinking public transportation. Or a scooter like Krystal? Or hers? ha ha better yet!

This weekend, LA Galaxy game. Oh yeah. Looking forward to it! We have some stuff to do around the house/yard too. Not so looking forward to that, but you have to do what you have to do. Right?

Time Change

I love when the time changes and it seems so much later than it really is. The long days are great too. Lots of outside time but darkness. ahhh. I feel like I get so much more done because it is still HOURS till bedtime although it feels like it already.

I wonder how I would do if it were dark all the time or light all the time. Who could forget those days on Northern Exposure. I would go nuts for sure.

Watching V

It just started and I just want to say it better not be set in California. There is no way people here would make a big deal of some shaking. Not to mention the dumbass lady who tried to hold her books in her bookshelf. Shez

No shame in public transportation

And I think I might need to start taking it. My car is in the shop again! We are looking at about $1150 this time. Nice. Damn imports. Let's see, work is 3.8 miles away. I could take the bus or give gas to carpool. hmmm, nice thought. I DO have a bike but ick, I would be nasty by the time I got to work plus in the dark coming home. Californian's are not known for being nice to bike riders.

What does a bus pass costs these days?

side note

If your also doing blog once a day during November. Leave me your link and I will make a special link page!

Day one of NaBloPoMo 2009

There is no theme for this year, or rather the theme is no theme. I decided to have one for those days when my brain just isn't working. This is year three for me. I shall not be defeated. My theme is medicine/health. I will use various body parts/medical info/etc to get me through if needed.

Today we are going to pick up Krystal's scooter. She is very excited although she doesn't have a license and can't ride it anyway. You need a M1 (motorcycle) license to ride one. She still has to get that and take a safety course (scheduled for next week).

Loving the extra hour of sleep although I didn't get to sleep until late as our neighbor's had a kicking party well past 1am.

what is going on

Things are settling in for the school year here at the Jasso household. Diego is enjoying Kinder much more then when he began. He used to ask every night "Do I have school tomorrow?" because he didn't want to go and now he asked because he is looking forward to it.

Siobhan likes her school too and has made a lot of friends. She says she even has a best friend.

Krystal is in her third year at Fullerton college. She has just started working at Sandella's. Click here for the facebook page. It is yummy! Different.

Eric and I went to meet friends for dinner last night at Haveli's.Yummy Indian food. Good company AND good food, what more could you ask for?

Picked up Krystal from work Friday night. Saturday morning I wanted to go get Eric some OJ and my car would start. Well, actually it would start, it just wouldn't stay running unless I kept my foot on the gas. Tomorrow I am going to have it towed and hopefully it will be something not too expensive (yeah right!). Hope for me too?!

No more milk please

Did you know there is no test to determine lactose intolerance? Siobhan often complains about her tummy hurting directly after eating cereal most mornings. The other night at Dairy Queen, she was about half way through her earthquake brownie (or something like that) and she was practically crying her belly hurt.

Ah-ha, she must be lactose intolerant. Surely I am a genius as I consider myself practically a doctor anyway. Per her doctor there is no test. You remove dairy for one to two weeks and slowly introduce products (cheese, yogurt, ice cream) and work your way up to milk.

Great. A test would have been easier. My girl LOVES her milk, cheese, mac and cheese, yogurt, all dairy! I am hoping that it will help with her constipation and maybe we can cut down on the (expensive and daily) Miralax.

So, I believe we will start tomorrow. I have to go buy some new milk for her. That stuff is pricey too! Alas, if her belly doesn't hurt it shall all be worth it!

A good time had by all

Yesterday the family decided to head out to LA. We went to Philippes for some very yummy french dip. Eric was excited because he got a 9 cent cup of coffee. You have to admit, you can't beat nine cents for a cup of coffee.

Then we headed over to Olvera Street where we did some shopping for the house, a dress for Siobhan and a few toys. It was so hot but at least most of the place is shade. We didn't eat there since we ate at Philippes so I kinda miss the people watching but the sandwiches were too good to pass up!

After that we headed over to the Fashion District. That was my first time there. I used to think it was stalls not shops. There were so many, we only went a few blocks. Mostly men's suits and shoes. We found one children's store were Siobhan found a beautiful black dress. I hope we find somewhere for her to wear it too. On our way back to the car we passed a shoe store ($5.99) and Siobhan and Diego got a pair of shoes. If they don't last, well who cares they were only $5.99!

We made it home about 20 minutes after the UCLA football game started. Kids fell asleep on the way home as I knew they would. It was really a great day. We had a lot of fun!

menus

Okay, so you are supposed to post this at the beginning of the week but since I am not so good about eating what we planned, it is Tuesday.

Saturday we went to El Toro Market and got 2.5 pounds of carnitas. Yummy. Sunday we had pasta. Monday leftover carnitas (still a little bit left). Tonight leftover pasta. Tomorrow Chuck E. Cheese for a birthday party. Thursday BLT's. Friday, not sure. As I said! Actually having left-overs is something new for us. We are going to do it though because not only is it a money saver, food doesn't go to waste. Well, not that anything goes to waste here but it isn't used up on Krystal's lunches. She can eat a sandwich like all the other kids.

Sayings

You know that old saying "Careful what you wish for?", it is so true. You think you want something, you get it and you think, eh, what was the fuss about?

Let's say you really want some cake. You watch what you eat for a whole week so you can have cake. You take a bite of the cake, and think "This is it? I waited for this". Weird isn't it.

Last night Krystal took the kids to a baseball game and Eric was gone so I had the house to myself. Oh yeah. I thought I would work late (but when I was so tired I couldn't type by 5:30 it was time to go home). Picked up something really good (but bad) to eat since it was just me. Watched a bit of MONK (which is always good and this one was with Sarah Silverman, classic). And after about an hour, the novelty wore off. Okay I was in my pj's (could have done that anyway), I had complete control of the tv, (and didn't have to turn it up to hear) I had the ac on (didn't have to turn it up high since I was the only one here) and, well...it wasn't all it was cracked up to be.

Now, that doesn't mean I didn't start yelling once we got home. Actually I don't think we were even in the door yet, but those few hours, looking back were nice.

Bee Hive

I gotta throw away some pics and video's because I need room. Here is a picture of a bee hive we had in our backyard. Eric called someone to come out and they said to just wait and the bees would probably move on.

The next day we went out and the bee's were gone. There was nothing remaining. It was so weird. I am glad we had the photo because otherwise we would have thought we imagined it.

Mission

I am on a mission to find things to do. No reason, just can't spend as much time in front of my computer (unless I move it or get a new chair), we seemed to have misplaced our DS, and frankly TV is not quite my thing (although I recorded all of the MONK shows).

Yesterday Krystal and I pulled out all of the furniture and she swept while I foot swiffered behind, in front and around it. Krystal was sneezing all day (I would like to say I felt sorry for her but I didn't because she is supposed to move the furniture every time she sweeps). I washed the rugs too.

Today? Not sure. What will the day bring. I am doing a sort of Tackle it Tuesday each day but sometimes very, very small (i.e. I cleaned out the freezer door). I am sure whatever it is, I will let you know.

I am alive

Okay, so I have let my blog down. I haven't been here. You know it and I know it. The thing is, well I do so much in less than 140 characters who can think after that?

But alas I attempt to try again.

Yesterday Diego started Kindergarten and Siobhan started 2nd grade at a new school. Our Catholic school informed us over the summer that they would not reopen. Not enough enrollment. There were a lot of tears (and not just from Siobhan) because we really loved that school. The Principal, office staff, teachers and all the families were great. It was like a big family. K-8 and only 170 some students.

So they are attending the public school right outside of our neighborhood. It wasn't our first choice, but... The bonus is Carol (Eric's mom) is about 6 or 7 houses away from the school (she is half a mile from our house) and she can take Diego (he starts at 10:32) and pick them both us. I prefer that over daycare.

They also wear uniforms. I don't like that. At least the one's at the Catholic school are cute and different. These are just khaki or blue. Boring. But they CAN wear jeans and any closed toes shoes. It was so difficult to find shoes with no other color than black or white.

So, we will try it and see. I shall join the PTA at this school as well. I know it won't be the same, nothing could be, but we will get through it.

I am off to drop off Siobhan. Bonus that Diego can sleep in since he doesn't have to be there for TWO more hours.

Check back as I will do my best to blog.

Farm Town on Facebook

My friend Julie got me playing this game called Farm Town through Facebook. I tried it out because if Julie likes it... I am so hooked. I have three friends and three cousins playing. You pick your facebook friends has neighbors and you farm your land. You plant crops and have people harvest them for you. If someone else harvests you and they get more coins (to in turn by more crops, etc). You can always help people out while they are gone and get additional coins. You can gift (once a day) something to people. Animals or trees (I like the trees as it grows fruit which makes coins). There is a marketplace where you can hire and be hired for work. You can expand your garden as you gain experience. You have to keep an eye on your crops or they will die before harvested. You can chat with your friends and visit their farms. It is pretty cute!

Where or where can my little Di be?

My heart just hasn't been into it. I have been twittering so much. It is so nice because I have so little to say, I don't even use my 140 characters.

Siobhan has another month and a half for school. Can't believe it. They have a lot of "end of the year activities". Trying to get Diego excited about school next year. He is mostly scared although it helps that he sees his teacher at S's school functions.

Trying to go things around here but it is slow going. Cleaning up rooms, painting (Bradley), get palms planted, etc.

Diego needs a haircut. WHY are haircut places closed on Sunday? What does that mean? We go to Rainbow kids which closes at something like 6pm during the week so that leaves Saturday if you are a parent who works outside of the home. What if my Saturday is already full? Not to mention that means every working parent is trying to get there on Saturday. Stupid if you ask me. Sunday is the day I take the time to say "What could I get done today that I might not completely hate doing?" Well, not taking the kids for a haircut I guess. Maybe I will go to Supercuts because it appears they ARE open on Sunday. So take that stupid Rainbow kids that isn't very kid friendly because it isn't open all weekend. Alright, so I thought I would clarify and they are open. Oops, sorry!

A few pics from our latest Disneyland trip

I am SO going to get D-land passes for Christmas. Enjoyed a short day for a Bibbibi Bobbiti Boutique thanks to my wonderful friend!

Day 3 of "vacation"

Hmm, let's see what I have done so far. About nothing. I did color my hair so most of the grey is now unnoticeable. We went to the market, Target (to get what I forgot at the market) and still somehow need jelly. We met Eric for dinner last night, that was nice.

I keep waiting for this "rain". Yeah right. It probably will rain the day I go back to work.

Siobhan and I go to Disneyland on Monday (for free!) for some Bibbity Bobbity Boutique they are having before it opens to the public.

Today, nothing again I think. I kinda enjoy doing nothing as long as the kids can play in the backyard.

Vacation from work coming up!

I am going to enjoy 8 days off work. Siobhan has a week and a half off for Easter so I thought I would take some time off too. We might go to the beach a couple of days, put the blow up pool in the back, go to the Santa Ana zoo, park, who knows. The road is open!

I am looking forward to sleeping in a bit. Usually whenever I am off I still have to get up and take someone to school, but not this time!

I go back to work on a Thursday and then hopefully Eric will be off that Thursday and then Friday is his flex.

No big plans for Easter. An egg hunt of course. Anyone else have any plans?

Where have I been?

Well where have YOU been? No one comes here anymore why should I? Truth be told there is so much crap going on over here there is nothing I want to write about.

Yesterday one of my friend's called and told me that Disneyland is having a new hair/make up for girls and before they do it for the public they are going to have people come and try it out. Her husband works there so they put Siobhan's name on the RSVP list. How cool is that? We need some cool over here.

I hope everyone out in internet land is well. Things could pretty much only get better. I think my moons are out of alinement or something.

Six weeks until Easter

So Ash Wednesday rolls around and I have to give something up for Lent. A sacrifice. Eric says jokingly "you should give up the DS". hee hee REAL funny.

I thought about it. It WOULD be a sacrifice. Although I don't play as much as before, I really enjoy playing the DS. So, I can not play for six weeks. SIX WEEKS. As if that were not enough of a sacrifice, look what game comes out today.

All I have to say is when I die, I should get some kind of fast pass right to the gates. No waiting in line for this girl! haha
I am even going to order it I think. I know what I will be doing all day Easter. What do you mean you want to eat? You want to hunt for eggs? Baskets? yeah right. I am busy!

Little Miss F*&^ing Sunshine

Last weekend we watched Little Miss Sunshine. That was a really cute movie. Remember the part where the horn keeping beeping on its own? That was so funny. Eric and I were cracking up.

Last night K and I went to Albertson's for some cupcake stuff. When we were leaving there was a loud honking, two times. K said "Was that you?" I said no, I bet it was that guys alarm. We had a whole conversation on how annoying it would be to live near someone with such a loud alarm.

About half way home, my horn went mmppbbeepp. Oh crap. You have GOT to be kidding me! I said I am little miss bleeping sunshine. This can not be happening. We pulled into the driveway, mrrbeep. crap!

I can't believe it. My car was in the shop two different times in the last week. A Eurovan is NOT cheap to repair. I guess at least I don't have a dead grandpa in the trunk.

Bad Dream

Early this morning I was dreaming that I was going to Europe for a while. I was going to look for an apartment (not sure why, but hey sounds good!) It was decided I would take Diego with me. I was at this house waiting for the train to take us to the airport and talking to some people. This lady walks over and looks at me, reaches in my wallet to get some change. She said "I'm sorry but we can't find your boy". I looked over and he wasn't there.

I woke up and thought, I am not going to dream this but still freaked out. About 30 seconds later, Diego came into my room and said "I want to lay with you". Oh my gosh!

That would NEVER happen. I keep them close, and he would be on my lap. I am a freak about knowing where they are. I don't understand people who let kids run wild in different places.

That was so weird he came in. He comes in around 7 everyday, but it was still dark outside. Ah, just what I needed though!

My friend Mackey sent this to me. It was too good not to share.

A woman goes into the drugstore & says to the pharmacist.
"I need poison."
Pharmacist replies "I can't sell you that ma'am"
The woman then shows her marriage certificate to the pharmacist.

"Oh! Sorry," he replied.
"I didn't know you had the prescription."

new job

I had to go the The Home Depot and decided to take Diego with me. When we walked in, a worker told me they have a kids workshop on the first Saturday of every month. We went to check it out. Not only is it free, he was given a apron that he gets to keep and a pin to put on it (you get one for each task). This months item was a treasure/jewerly box. We had to put the velvet on, glue it and put the stickers on the side and the heart on the top.

He had such a good time. He carried that thing around the whole store, two hands, making sure it made it home safely. We will be visiting again next month.

Free B Movies

Last night I found a video podcast that has free B movies. I download Night of the Living Dead. Classic! Eric heard me playing it and he said "I love that podcast!" Of course he already knew about it! They have other classics like Reefer Madness, They Cane from Beyond Space, Little Shop of Horrors, Killers from Space and Attack of the Giant Leeches. I haven't seen that last one, but the based on the name it is a must see!

There are currently 51 to choose from. Full length and free. Not to mention the crazy Pope like guy. I found it on iTunes, of course! Here is the link to find it on iTunes The Cult of UHF.

Hey, Right Reverend Chumley, I would like to see Attack of the Killer Tomatoes!

Check it out!

Disneyland was GREAT

Not only did Siobhan get in for free to Disneyland on her birthday, she got a 2fer ticket. I did as well, so later this month we will be going back to hit California Adventure which neither of us have been too. (Eric and I will be taking Diego soon as well!)

It was not crowded so the wait time for the rides was no more than 15 minutes for most. They gave Siobhan a "Happy Birthday Siobhan" button and every cast member said "Happy Birthday". Most said "Happy Birthday Princess" which of course, she loved.

The longest line was about an hour and 15 minutes. We knew it was to see the Princesses but we didn't know exactly. By then my feet were killing me! We got in and she got to sit with a Princess alone and talk. Oh man! That was so worth it. Then she got to see two more Princesses. I took a bunch of photos (to follow soon) and that was her favorite part.

We really had a good time.

Drama Mama and Di

I did it. I finally got to meet Drama Mama. She was here from Arizona to go to Disneyland. I told her we HAD to meet. Disneyland is about 2 miles away. We got a chance to meet for the first time in person and talk some, but not long enough! So glad to have finally seen you in person!

The weekend was kinda nice. Didn't feel so hot Saturday and found out some crapy news but it was nice being home together. My brother stopped by and we finally exchanged our Christmas gifts. The pile of those gifts left is finally getting smaller.

Sunday's school mass was fun and there were TONS of doughnuts. Eric bought a brick on the school wall (more info later). I met DramaMama for the first time (photo later) so it was a good day.

Yesterdays Open House was good. We got there early so we had the teacher to ourselves for about 20 minutes. Siobhan didn't go too crazy, or rather we didn't let her, at the book fair. She got a poster for her room (too cute)! I bought the book Twilight on Julie's and PunkRockMom's reviews. I have to finish my library books first though.

Tonight, school spaghetti dinner and, oh yes, BINGO!

school activities

This week is Catholic school week. Today was the school mass. We took doughnuts for after mass. Tomorrow is Open House and the Book Fair. Tuesday is Spaghetti Dinner and Bingo night. Oh yes, B-I-N-G-O. I know there is a talent show in Thursday. Luckily the rest of the stuff is during school hours. So many things but Siobhan goes to a great school!

Kite Runner

Watched the movie last night. They did a very good job of following the book. I was impressed. I am also glad it was not in English. Wouldn't have been the same if it had been.

This is a recent picture taken at my office party with my boss! She is wonderful!

Today is just the beginning

Today marks a new day for Americans. I think our new President will turn things around. Even if you are one of the fewer Republicans that didn't vote for him and don't believe he will make thinks different. I hope you can not disagree that the last eight years have not been good. We are not currently in a good spot. There is almost no where else to go but up.

My heart is eager to see what can happen. Oh it will take a long time. It took EIGHT years to get here, don't expect things to make a complete u-turn.

Regardless of what you think, today is a day of celebration.

The Notebook

I saw the movie The Notebook. K and I were flipping channels and it was just getting ready to start. I think I enjoy movies so much more if I have no idea of what to expect from them. It was a good movie. I might not have watched it otherwise.

Lose it!

I just downloaded a free app from iTunes called Lose it! Click here to see
It basically lets you enter your current weight, the weight you would like to be, your height and age. It then tells you how many calories you can have each day and uses a little chart to see how many are left. It allows you to enter the food you have eaten and how much. It figures out how many calories that was.

It seems to have a lot of foods listed. I am going to give it a go and see how it works. I like that I can take it with me.

There is nothing fun about cleaning the room of a 4 and 6 year old. There is some satisfaction when it is completed. When will that be?

Thursday, January 15, 2009

Diego (age 4) wants to be Nacho (our dog) so he can sleep with Siobhan.

Monday, January 05, 2009

Currently fighting with Siobhan that she does not have pe shorts although I just gave them to her yesterday to put away. I can not go look for them because I am busy, here, typing. Ah, older siblings...

We watched Hair last night. Siobhan wants to buy it. I swear that little girl is a hippy at heart.

Eric and Krystal leave in two days for Macworld in San Francisco. They leave early Wed and return later on Friday. I know they will have a great time. K has a lot of things planned that she is going to do when she isn't at Macworld. Let's hope they both take their phone chargers and remember to actually turn their phones on! (hee hee Eric is notorious for never having his phone on). I am a bit jealous. I want to eat at Lefty's, enjoy some clam chowder in a bread bowl, and watch the seals.

We are heading to Mexico, hopefully, in a couple weeks for a 15th birthday party (not sure how to spell it). I have never been to one, well none of us have, and I am looking forward to it.

Well off to school and work. Happy Monday people!

New Years Resolutions

I will make ONE New Year's Resolution and then tell you how I am doing things different this year.

I need to lose weight, spend more time with the kids, clean the house, etc, etc, etc.

Every year I say the things I will do and it never happens (well not enough anyway).

I resolve to: (drum roll please) attempt to put the laundry AWAY! I currently will fold it and sort socks and then move them to another location but not actually put them away. I resolve to do so now.

This year, 2009, is going to be MY year. This is the year I will turn 40. I am looking forward to it. I have already noticed the wonderful changes that occur when a woman gets older (and I don't mean menopause). The idea that you are an individual. Your a person. Not just a mom or a wife. Not just a daughter or an employee. It is a state of mind. I am awaiting my birthday. I will make this year wonderful!

My New Year's Resolution is going to be a bit backwards. Instead of saying what I "will do" I will say what I "did do". I will do things that I don't usually do and post them here. Or rather, when I do things I don't normally do. Which quite frankly, aside from reading and playing the DS would be just about everything.

Today I cleaned out on of the kitchen cabinets. Removed all items (with Diego's help for WAY back there), cleaned the shelf, washed all (okay, most) of the dishes. Matched lids to pans. Put all glass bowls together, etc.

I found I have TWO hand mixers. Why is that? I even cleaned the cords. Oh yes, I accomplished a task today. Feel free to check back (hopefully often) to discover other things I might have done). I don't think I will do a before and after (photos) because when the mood hits you have to go with it.

Happy New Year!
